I started with a 10"x 8" piece of Crumb Cake Cardstock. I scored the short side at 2" and 6". I scored the long side at 4" and 6". I cut the horizontal score lines to the vertical score lines. I cut off 1" from both sides, EXCEPT FOR THE TOP SECTION.
Measure 1 1/4" from each score line in the top section and mark with a pencil.
Draw a line with a ruler from the pencil mark to the bottom corner in the top section as shown. Repeat on other side.
Trim off top section as shown.
Angle the score lines in the bottom sections as shown. Run the top section through the Big Shot using the Basket Weave Embossing Folder. You will only be able to emboss two sections, so line the end of the embossing folder to the score line, and fold all the other sections under, so they'll fit through the Big Shot. Repeat this process to emboss the last section. Emboss the bottom section.
Add Tear & Tape as shown. ALSO ADD TEAR & TAPE ALONG THE ANGLED EDGES!
Add Tear & Tape as shown. Use a Sponge with Soft Suede ink to add shading before assembling.
Assemble the back of the box as shown. I marked the front section with an X so I'd know to adhere that last.
This is what the sides should look like.
I made the handle, the lid and the latch with Soft Suede Cardstock. The handle measures 9" x 3/4". The lid measures 4" x 3", and I scored it at 3/4" and 2" on the short side. The latch measures 4" x 3/4", and I scored it at 1 1/2" and 2 3/4". I used the Detailed Trio Punch to round the corners. I ran each through the Big Shot using the Subtle Embossing Folder. I put the cardstock in at an angle because the gift card holder pocket on the front ends up being on the diagonal...and I'm anal:) I also sponged the edges with Soft Suede ink.
I added a couple packages of nuts inside. If you're wanting to put something inside, it will be easiest to add it now before you finish the basket. I folded on the score lines of the lid and adhered it to the back of the basket with Tear & Tape. I folded the latch and adhered it to the top of the lid with Liquid Tombow, giving you a little wiggle room to center it. I then added a velcro dot underneath to keep the lid closed. I bent the handle slightly with a Bone Folder and attached the ends with Tear & Tape.
I made the gift card pocket on the front of the basket from Soft Suede Cardstock. I used the Envelope Punch Board for this, using the measurements for the gift card holder. This is being retired, so make sure you get it by June 3rd if you don't already have one! LikeI mentioned above, I ran the cardstock through the Big Shot using the Subtle Embossing Folder. I assembled the gift card holder with Tear & Tape and adhered it to the basket with Tear & Tape as well.
I then added 4 True Gentleman Buttons with Glue Dots. These are retiring as well, so make sure you get them before they're gone. Next, I stamped the hook with Best Catch stamp set using Soft Suede ink onto Smoky Slate Cardstock. I used the Catch of the Day Thinlits to cut it out, along with 2 fish from Shimmery White Cardstock. I stamped the detail with Soft Suede ink and used a Blender Pen with Mossy Meadow, Grapefruit Grove & Soft Suede ink to color the fish.
I cut a piece of Old Olive Linen Thread at 5" and tied it around the hook. I then thread it through the holes in the fish and knotted the ends. I layered a 4" piece of Lovely Lipstick and Grapefruit Grove Grosgrain Ribbon together and tied a 4" piece of Copper Trim around them. I cut along the edges of the ribbon and then pulled apart the threads to create the fun faux fishing lure. I trimmed the Copper Trim and split it apart as well adding some extra texture.
I designed yesterday's card to coordinate with this adorable fishing basket, and I think it will be a fun gift to give my Father-in-Law for Father's Day. As I mentioned yesterday, the Best Catch stamp set and Catch of the Day Thinlits will carry over into the new catalog, but they will no longer be bundled. So if you want to get the 10% discount, make sure you order this before June 3rd, along with the Envelope Punch Board, True Gentleman Buttons and Old Olive Linen Thread...all retiring:(
