YIPPEE-SKIPPEE CARD:

Hello there! I want to apologize for the gap in posting, but it couldn't be helped. I had Hurricane Q for 2 days. I figured I'd get something posted on Thursday after he went to bed, but he never gave it up. He was going strong til 10:30 when his mom picked him up and by then, I was spent. So I had big plans for Friday. Rickels was going to be home by 5, so I could get some cards knocked out-WRONG! I ended up in the ER with a fractured foot:( More on that in a bit...

Back to the card...When we were at Convention last week or the week before?-it's a blur, they handed out the super fun set Yippee-Skippee! to everyone in attendance. 5500 people-Yippee Skippee is right! Of course I already had this set, but that's okay, I'll give it away as a door prize at one of my upcoming Card Nights. I started with a Baked Brown Sugar base and ran it throught the Big Shot with the Perfect Polka Dots Embossing Folder on one side. I colored the 'happy' with a Baked Brown Sugar Marker and stamped it along the edge of the card. Next, I added some BBS Ruffle Trim Ribbon to a piece of Birthday Basics DSP. I used the Dotted Scallop Ribbon Border Punch to punch out the Pool Party border and stuck it under the ribbon with Liquid Tombow glue.
I made a tag with the new Chalk Talk Framelits in Very Vanilla. I stamped the cake stand in Night of Navy and inked up the sentiment with Calypso Coral and Night of Navy Markers. I ran a piece of Night of Navy Stitched Ribbon through the tag and stamped the cake in Pool Party on Pool Party Cardstock. I put a Glue Dot behind the knot in the ribbon to keep it in place and attached the tag with Dimensionals. I tied a Calypso Coral Baker's Twine bow around the top cake layer and attached them with Glue Dots. I finished it off with a sweet little flower punched out with the Itty Bitty Shapes Punch Pack and added a Rhinestone to the center.

This was a pretty quick and easy card to make and could easily be changed up for a guy by using a more masculine embossing folder like Striped or Chevron, trade out the ribbon and border for strips of cardstock or the stitched ribbon. Trade the flower for a button and lose the bow. You could use the Cupcake Builder Punch and add a few candles to the top-maybe I'll do just that! Check back tomorrow and we'll see how it worked. Now, back to my foot...

Friday afternoon I was trying to get Quinten to take a nap by reading to him on our bed upstairs. He was only interested in jumping on the bed, so after a few close calls of him flying off the bed, I decided it was time to go downstairs and try to confine him to a couple of rooms down there. He was not happy and fighting me as we were going down the steps. I thought I was at he landing but missed a step, so we went down and bounced off a couple of walls I think and finally landed back on the steps. My ankle and ribs took the brunt of it.

I'm sorry about the horrible hairiness of my toes-if only it would grow like that on my head! I'm starting to bruise pretty good and am still pretty swollen.

Check out the nice Petunia Pig foot! Pretty! Needless to say, I'm going to be fat for the wedding. No Y for me for awhile. I was thinking I could maybe do some upper body stuff, but my ribs are hurting lots-it's painful just to breathe:( One good thing though...I think I'm off babysitting duty for a couple of weeks! By then maybe I'll be ready to chase him around again! I'm going to try to get several cards posted for you tomorrow, so make sure you check back! Thanks so much for stopping by!

  1. Oh my gosh, I totally feel for you! We left on a 3 wk+ trip before convention and I fell down our RV steps and thought for sure I broke two toes and just plain racked up my body! All I could think of was I hope it's all better by convention. At least your toenail polish looked great! My Nana had a solution when she couldn't get me to stop jumping on the bed and yelling I didn't want to take a nap - on the third warning she came in with a glass of water and threw it in my face (not sure which of us was close to hysteria) and that cured me! I'll never forget it!

  3. Wendie, that is hilarious about the water-I may need to resort to that! It's crazy how a fall like that can take such a toll! And James, you're right! Thank goodness for the stamping! All is good:)
