COME TO GATHER CLASS:

Hello there! Sorry I've been away for the past week or so. As many of you already know we've been dealt a crappy hand. We had Dr. appointments at the University of Iowa Hospital last week. We were told that my husband has Stage 4 brain cancer-glioblastoma. His prognosis is 12-14 months to 5 years. We set up a chemo and radiation schedule and were to begin that on this coming Monday.

That was a huge blow, and it took me some time to grieve and process the news. My husband on the other hand is extremely optimistic and declares that he is ready to fight! We have 3 amazing children and a very generous & supportive community of family and friends, who are organizing a fund-raiser on Saturday, October 19th:

I hope any of you who are local will come to the Som and and at least grab a Somburger and a beer-we'd love to see you! We so appreciate your prayers, your encouragement & your love!

We have decided to get a second opinion and are heading to Mayo on Tuesday and Wednesday. Our kids are all about diet and alternative healing and want to see chemo & radiation as a last resort, so we're open to other ideas. God is definitely walking us through this...He's providing before we even know what we need. Check out how God is at work! Our daughter Olivia shared this on her Facebook page:

So as my brother is working yesterday at the Area Recycling Center, a semi comes in with a ton of paper to drop off... literally..a ton! Joel is there when it arrives. They open the back and he sees all this loose leaf paper needing recycled. He looks down and sees something different. A blueish magazine. He picks it up and notices the title, “Brain Matters”, with a big picture of a brain on the front. He thinks “Wow! Crazy coincidence” and decides to bring it home. As we get together as a family last night he brings it over to all of us and we’re all just in awe! Pretty cool! As I look through it he shows me this article with a gentlemen who suffered from brain cancer. As I’m reading, I learn that this gentleman’s name was Rick! Ok wow super crazy I’m thinking.. As I read on, I learned his wife’s name is Laura! OK WHAT!? This is wild! And as I continue on, we discover this man suffered from the same cancer, glioblastoma, as my dad. Who’s name is Rick and who has a wife named Laura. Pretty crazy huh!? What a miracle. What a sign! Looks like we might be heading to LA! 😂😍

I am also optimistic that God is going to lead us to where we go from here. In the meantime, I am so thankful to have Stampin' Up! in my life to keep me busy and provide me with such a comforting escape when I need it.
